Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (Closed 2005)

Hukari Technical Services (HUKARI) provided Engineering and Nuclear Safety Support for D&D of multiple Hazard Category 2 and 3 facilities at the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (RFETS). HUKARI provided RFETS with senior-level Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for programmatic development and implementation in the areas of engineering, waste management/D&D, quality, nuclear safety, and independent safety oversight. HUKARI’s specific support in closing RFETS included:

HUKARI was particularly instrumental in nuclear safety success during RFETS closure. We assisted with development and implementation of the Nuclear Safety Program Manual, conducting open forum, round-table reviews to enable real-time comment incorporation. We also developed a thorough Implementation Plan and workable schedule in concurrence with both operations personnel and the regulator. Personnel were instrumental in development of nuclear safety license documentation that allowed for step-out of approved controls as the D&D hazard was reduced and the use of outdoor waste storage cells.
